Collagenase preparations typically contain the activity of several proteases, including collagenase, caseinase, clostripain, and trypsin (Kessler & Yaron). While Collagenase Type III is lower in secondary proteolytic activity (caseinase, clostripain, and trypsin), it has similar collagenolytic activity compared to other collagenase types. Collagenase Type III has been used for the digestion of many tissues and cell types, including mammary glands (R酶nnov-Jessen et al.), colon cancer stem cells (Prince et al.), and breast epithelial tumor cells (Chan et al.).
